FDI tops $20 bn in 11 months of 2007-08

New Delhi, Apr 4: Foreign direct investment equity capital inflow into India in 11 months between April 2007 to February 2008 crossed 20 billion dollars, the highest FDI into equity in the country during any year, official data released today said. This inflow of 20.13 billion dollars was about 70 per cent more than 11.88 billion dollars received during the comparable 11 months of 2006-07, the data released by the Commerce Ministry added.

In February alone, the FDI inflow was an unprecedented 5.67 billion dollars, surpassing inflows received in any single year since 1991 except in 2006-07. This single month inflow represented a 712 per cent increase over the FDI receipts in February 2007.
