Kochi, Apr 4 (UNI) BPCL Kochi Refinery has recorded the highest ever crude oil throughput in the financial year 2007-2008, refining 8.2 million metric tonne of crude oil.

The company also achieved record production in LPG (442,179 metric tonnes), petrol (875,463 metric tonnes), aviation turbine fuel (282,991 metric tonnes) and sulphur (24,343 metric tonnes), a company release said today.

Kochi Refinery also achieved record production individually in different grades of petrol, including BS-II Motor spirit (774,635 metric tonne) and Euro-III Motor spirit (100,798 metric tonne) and different grades of diesel comprising BS-II HSD (3,243,700 metric tonne), Euro-III HSD (93,042 metric tonne) and LSHF HSD (89,630 metric tonne).

During the year, Kochi Refinery commissioned the Single Point Mooring (SPM) facility that facilitated the refinery in receiving crude oil in large crude carriers, thus bringing down the cost of transportation of crude oil.

The refinery this year won various awards including the Kerala State Pollution Control Board Award for consistent top grade performance in pollution control and environment protection, National Safety Council (Kerala Chapter) Awards for outstanding performance, best safety committee and safety management, and the Green Tech Foundation's Gold Award for safety management, the release added.
