Opposition members withdraw 'dharna' agitation
Mumbai, Apr 3 (UNI) Members of the Opposition, who were on a dharna in front of the Vidhan Bhavan building, withdrew their agitaton tonight after the intervention of Maharashtra deputy chief minister R R Patil and parliamentary affairs minister Harshwarbhan Patil.
Both assured the Opposition legislators to conduct a meeting tomorrow at 0930 hrs to sort out the issue.
Opposition and treasury benches were at loggerheads for the past couple of days and even six opposition legislators were suspended for the whole year.
The Sena-BJP members earlier in the day submitted a one-line no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende to the Principal Secretary of the Legislature.
The Opposition was protesting against the Deputy Speaker for non- acceptance of their demand for voting on the budgetary demands despite being asked.
