Kalam underlines need for timely medication

Vijayawada, Apr 3 (UNI) Former President A P J Abdul Kalam today underlined the need for providing timely medication for the treatment of acute cardiovascular diseases.

Inaugurating a tele-medicine facility at Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation at Chinaoutapalli near here, Dr Kalam said research on cardiology and neurology had contributed tremendously in saving patients with Thrombosis.

On nano-technology applications in treatment, he said the technology had developed in great extent to provide safe treatment to various ailments.

Dr Kalam said a survey by US-based Institute of Health found that as many as 95,000 death occur per year in the US due to medical errors.

It was recognised that there was a need for change in medication to improve the safety and quality of care provided to patients, he said adding that it was important to provide training to doctors, nurses and paramedics on safe medical practices.
