Hogenakkal issue: JD(U) threatens to launch agitation
Mandya, Karnataka, Apr 3: The Janata Dal (United) in Karnataka today threatened to launch an agitation against the Centre if it failed to intervene in the controversial issue of Hogenakkal drinking water project in the inter-state border with Tamil Nadu.
JD(U) State President B Somasekhar charged the Centre with adopting a biased stand with regard to the inter-state water dispute with Tamil Nadu, besides Mahadayi issue with Goa.
He urged the Centre to immediately intervene in the matter and stop Tamil Nadu from going ahead with the Hogenakkal project.
He condemned the provocative statement of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and said it could lead to unrest in the border areas of both the States.
