JD(S) rules out pre-poll alliance with SP

Bangalore, Apr 3: The Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka today ruled out any pre-poll alliance with the Samajawadi Party in the coming State Assembly elections.

JD(S) State President Mirajuddin Patel told reporters here that the party had held one round of talks with the SP, led in the State by former Chief Minister S Bangarappa, and there was no progrees in the talks as planned.

''The party has decided to go it alone in the coming polls following the failure of talks with the SP,'' he said.

Stating that more than 1,700 aspirants had filed applications for party tickets, he said tickets would be given to those candidates who come from a better socio-political background.
