Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) Following the announcement of election dates for the dissolved Karnataka assembly, a team from the Election Commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy, will arrive here on a two-day visit to the state tomorrow.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) M N Vidyashankar told UNI here today that the EC team had called for a meeting of the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts to review the poll preparedness of the official machinery and security arrangements to be put in place for the elections.
The polls are scheduled to be held in three phases on May 10, 16 and 22.
Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao and IGP K R Srinivasan would also be attending the meeting, he said.
Mr Gopalaswamy would be accompanied by Deputy CEC R Bhattacharya and ECs Navin B Chawla and S Y Quraishi.
The CEO said the state government had released Rs 40 crore for election work. It was expected that the election would cost the exchequer about Rs 65 crore, he said.
With Karnataka being the first state to go to the polls under the delimited assembly segments, the complete details of the newly drawn constituencies was published on the government website today, he said.
