Anand, Gujarat, Apr 3 (UNI) NDDB has agreed to manage WAMUL for five years at the request of the Assam government.
A tripartite agreement to this effect was signed yesterday at Guwahati between the Government of Assam, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the West Assam Milk Producers' Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL), an NDDB release said here today.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, NDDB Chairman Dr Amrita Patel, Assam's Minister for Cooperation&Cultural Affairs Gautam Bora and NDDB's Managing Director Deepak Tikku, among other senior officials of Government of Assam and NDDB, the release said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gogoi lauded the role of NDDB in the development of dairy activities in the country for the growth of rural economy and appreciated NDDB's gesture to take over the management of dairy activities in Assam.
Assam's Cooperation Minister in his speech said the signing of the agreement would start a new era in the history of the state's dairy development. This would benefit millions of consumers in the urban areas as they will get good quality milk at reasonable rate and will provide better price to the producers, the release added.
