AEPC to set up five Apparel Training and Design centres in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Apr 3 (UNI) The Central government-owned Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) will set up five satellite Apparel Training and Design centres at Berhampur, Rourkela, Baripada, Sambalpur and Cuttack in association with the state government.
A Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) in this regard was signed today between Orissa Textile and Handloom Principal Secretary Anita Agnihotri and AEPC Secretary General Anil Kumar Bambathe in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Minister for Textiles and Handloom Golak Bihari Nayak at a function here.
As per the MoU, the AEPC would train personnel in different aspects of the garment manufacturing with the dual objective of generating employment and meeting with the growing demand of trained manpower in the apparel industry.
While the state government would provide the initial expenditure of Rs 30 lakh and floor area of 5,500 to 7,500 sq ft area for setting up the institution, the AEPC would bear the recurring expenses for running the institutions.
AEPC would impart training in the fields of pattern making, cutting techniques, production supervision and quality control techniques, garment construction and machine mechanism techniques according to needs of the global apparel industry.
The infrastructures would include variety of books, latest imported garment machineries, mannequins.
