Illegal blood bank: 7 sent to police remand

Gorakhpur, Apr 3: The seven people accused of running an illegal blood bank business will be kept for another two days in police remand for further investigation, sources said today.

On March 15, police had raided a house and busted the gang, running an illegal blood bank, at village Chorpurva in Shahpur area.

According to the sources, the remand of the accused -- Pappu Yadav, Dhananjay Singh, Zulfikar Ali, Rajan Singh, Jeetendra Kumar Tiwari, Ramlakhan and Arun Kumar Dubey -- had been extended last evening.

Meanwhile, police is trying to find out the links of the gang with the nursing homes, to whom the blood was sold.

A search to nab another accused, Jayant Sarkar was on.
