New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) For the first time since 1971 Indo-Pak war, Bangladesh has acknowledged the role and contribution of the Indian Army in its liberation when it honoured ten war veterans from India during their recent visit to the neighbouring country.
The veterans, along with their spouses, participated in Bangladesh's national and independence day celebrations from March 25 to 31.
They cherished the 1971 War memories and met their old comrades-in-arms, the Mukti Jodhas, with whom they fought shoulder to shoulder.
Bangladesh Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed hosted a banquet in honour of the Indian delegation which also visited the Army Museum, Mukti Joddha Jadugar, battle sites at Comilla Cantonment, places of historical importance and enjoyed a river cruise.
Emotions ran high when the war veterans, led by General (retd) J F R Jacob, met Sector Commanders in Dhaka on March 30.
