Pune, Apr 2 (UNI) Three members of the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) were attacked and its office was ransacked allegedly by a few members of the RSS outfit, Hindu Garjana, here today.
The three party workers were injured when they were trying to block the Hindu Garjana workers, who were trying to enter the CPI(M) office.
Faraskhana police said around 12 to 15 activists of Hindu Garjana went on a rampage and allegedly beat the Left workers with hockey sticks and canes and shouted slogans like 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.
However, when the CPI(M) activists shouted for police help, the attackers fled from the scene.
No one was arrested or detained till this evening.
Reacting to the incident, Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was on a short visit to Hinjewadi IT Park here today, said, ''The government has taken the attack seriously and it will take strict action against the attackers. Nobody can take the law into one's own hands.'' State CPI(M) secretary Ajit Abhayankar condemned the attack, saying the action by saffron activists was due to frustration.
''After losing in politics and other fields, the RSS has become frustrated. Today's attack on the party workers and office was out of that frustration,'' he added.
