State to introduce code of conduct for schools

Mumbai, Apr 2 (UNI) Taking serious note of the CBSC and ICSE schools in the state not celebrating the national days, Maharashtra Government today announced it will shortly introduce code of conduct for schools across the state.

Minster of School Education Vasant Purke today said this in the Legislative Council while replying to a question by Shiv Sena member Deepak Sawant that these school do not observe national holidays like January 26 and August 15 and also do not hoist the National Flag on these occasions.

Mr Sawant also alleged that even the National Anthem is not compulsorily recited in these schools.

Upon this, Mr Purke said after implemantion of the code of conduct, these holidays will have to be compulsorily observed, and flag hoisting and recitation of the National Anthem will be mandatory. Action will be taken against the management of schools which violate these norms, he said.
