Pondy Assembly seeks protection to Tamils in K'taka
Puducherry, Apr 2 (UNI) The Legislative Assembly today passed a unanimous resolution urging the Union and Karnataka Governments to ensure protection to the lives and properties of Tamils in Karnataka.
Moving the resolution at the fag end of the day's sitting, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said following the Hogenakkal drinking water scheme, Tamils in Karnataka were being attacked by volunteers of some Kannada associations.
This had to be curtailed forthwith and the government should take steps to give protection to the Tamils.
Several members who participated in the short duration debate on the issue expressed concern over the attack and wanted the Karnataka and Central Governments to initiate action immediately.
