Ahmedabad, Apr 2 (UNI) A teenaged student of Delhi Public School (DPS) was killed on the spot while 38 others were injured, five of them critically, when their school bus turned turtle near Shilaj cross road on the western outskirts of the city today.
The accident occurred when the driver of the school bus lost control over the vehicle while trying to overtake a truck at 0730 hrs, police said.
The bus, carrying 45 students, was on way to school located at Bopal near Sanand, about 25 km from here, police said.
Of the injured, 17 were admitted to SAL Hospital in the Drive-in area, another ten to Kesar SAL Hospital on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, while the remaining 11 were moved to the Sola Civil Hospital on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway.
The five critically injured are being treated at the SAL Hospital, while the other injured children were discharged after treatment. The deceased has been identified as Akul Ramdad Rathod.
Parents and relatives of the students rushed to all the three hospitals to know the condition of their children.
