Bhikhiwind, Amritsar, Apr 2 (UNI) Pakistan Human Rights activist, Ansar Burney today assured the family of Indian prisoners Sarabjit Singh, who is on death row in Kot Lakhtpat jail near Lahore, that he would fight till end to achieve the re-union of the family, which has undergone untold suffering for the last 17 years.
''I will fight for Sarabjit's cause till the last drop of my blood is drained from my body,'' he told Poonam and Swapandeep, Sarabjit's daughters who pleaded with him to save their father from the gallows.
Mr Burney and his wife embraced the two daughters as they entered Sarabjit's home in this border town. The couple consoled them and their mother, Sukhdeep Kaur and asked them to have faith in the almighty.
Dalbir Kaur, the sister of Sarabjit who tied a 'rakhi' on Mr Burney's wrist, gave certain documents to him including the police report which was registered at Bhikhiwind police station in January 1990 when Sarabjit inadvertently strayed across the border. The report lodged by the family members mentioned that Sarabjit had not returned home since then.
