HM suffer another blow, three more militants arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar Apr 2 (UNI) Hizbul Mujahideen suffered yet another blow when three top commanders of the outfit were arrested in north Kashmir by Jammu and Kashmir police.
About a dozen top commander of the HM were killed and arrested in the Kashmir valley during the past one week.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) S M Sahai said police conducted raids at Gund Chogal, Handwara, in the frontier district of Kupwara on a tip off provided by local sources.
During the raids, three top commanders identified as Mudasir Shabir Ganie alias Ali, a self-styled district commander, Parvez Ahmad Wani alias Mubashir alias Saifullah, ''battalion commander,'' and Nissar Abdullah Malik alias RP ''acting financial and logistics commander'' were arrested.
He said Mudasir was an ''A'' category militant who carried a reward of Rs 2,50,000 on his head.
Two AK rifles, six AK magazines, 125 rounds of AK ammunition, one pistol, one pistol magazine, four pistol rounds, three Chinese grenades, one fake election identity card, three mobiles, three SIMs, two pouches, one UBGL launcher and eight UBGL grenade shells were recovered from their possession.
Mr Sahai said the militants were active in Mawar, Qaziabad, Guloora and Sopore area of north Kashmir and were wanted in many militancy related incidents.
He said the militants had crossed over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) for receiving arms training there. However, Ganie returned in 2005 from Uri while Wani infiltrated through Nepal.
