Government announces five day public holiday for polls
Kathmandu, Apr 2 (UNI) The government of Nepal has announced a five-day public holiday for the Constituent Assembly elections.
A cabinet meeting held today at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar decided to announce holidays from April 7 to 11 to facilitate people's participation in the elections scheduled for April 10.
The government has already announced a two-week long vacation for schools from today.
The cabinet meeting also decided to give Rs 1 million compensation to the families of Firoz Khan and Parvez Iraqi Ansari, who were killed in the Biratnagar mosque blasts on Saturday.
Despite some sporadic incidents of violence in some districts, the campaign for the polls has been peaceful.
