Crime rampant in Chhattisgarh jails: LSP
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 2 (UNI) Expressing concern over increasing crime and corruption in jails of Chhattisgarh, state Loktantrik Samajwadi Party President Javed Usmani today attributed it to non-implementation of the directives of the Supreme Court.
In a statement issued here, Mr Usmani alleged that jails in Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Korba, Korea, Katghora and Dantewada had became centre of exploitation of inmates, homosexual crimes and other obscene activities.
''The presence of a call girl in the central jail here proves this,'' he said, adding that such crimes and corruption could not be possible sans the collusion with jailors.
In the case of Sunil Batra v Delhi Administration, the apex court had emphasised the need for regular inspection of prison inmates by district magistrates, session judges and Supreme Court and High Court justices.
