Coimbatore, Apr 2 (UNI) The 19th Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) today condemned the attack by the RSS and BJP activists on the CPI(M) office at Pune in Maharashtra and demanded stern action against the perpetrators of the violent attacks.
A party release here said the CPI(M) MLAs would take up the issue in the State Assembly, which was in session, and meet the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to register their strong protest.
The RSS and BJP cadres had attacked CPI(M) activists, injuring three, when they tried to foil their attacks and prevented them from entering the office premises. Only two days earlier, the RSS had burnt party flags in Nandubar and staged anti-CPI(M) demonstrations in other places in Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra State Committee of the CPI(M) had given a call to organise demonstrations alongwith other Left parties all over the State to denounce the attack.
To a question on this , West Bengal Chief Minister and Politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, who briefed the media on the fourth day deliberations of the ongoing party Congress here, said ''this is the real face of RSS. No where in the history, a party headquarters has been attacked.'' The violent attack also showed that the RSS did not believe in values, rule of law and constitution, he added.
Politburo member Sitaram Yechury told newspersons that ''we can expect only this kind of behaviour from the RSS, which had assassinated father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. We will show our protest in a democratic manner''.
