Siddharthnagar, Apr 2 (UNI) To conduct free and fair polls, a special checking drive will be initiated to curb any anti-social activity during the Khalilabad parliamentary seat bypoll on April 12.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) A K Vishnoi, who visited the constituency to take stock of the preparations, today told mediapersons that election code of conduct would be followed strictly during the byelection, besides, barricading and garrisoning force on the prime locations.
Strict vigil would be maintained at hotels, 'dharamshalas', 'dhabas' and other public places, he added.
Mr Vishnoi had called a meeting, in which Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan, election observer and other district administration officers were called for the election briefing.
He also organised separate meetings for Basti, Sant Kabirnagar and Siddharthnagar of Basti Division regarding the same.
