Capt Megha's death case: Husband sent in police remand till Apr 7
Jammu, Apr 2 (UNI) A local court today sent Capt Chaitanya Bhatwadekar, husband of Capt Megha Razdan whose body was found hanging at their official residence in the city outskirts here last year, in six-day police remand till April 7.
''Capt Chaitanya has been sent in police remand till April 7,'' sources in the court told UNI.
Police had arrested Capt Chaitanya late last night on charges of abetting the suicide of his 26-year-old Army officer wife. He was booked under sections 306 and 498-A of RPC (Ranbir Panel Code, applicable in Jammu and Kashmir), sources said.
The Army officer was produced before the court this afternoon which remanded him to police custody.
Capt Megha Razdan, who was allegedly having strained relations with her husband Capt Chaitanya, was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a bedsheet at her official residence at Kunjawani on July 1, 2007.
Reportedly, there were thumb marks on Capt Razdan's neck and stomach, injury marks on her left leg and blood stains on her stomach.
The death of the lady officer had sparked a controversy. A suicide note, which was recovered from her residence said she was committing suicide as she was being harassed by her seniors in the Army.
Capt Megha Razdan and her husband were posted in 113 Engineering Regiment.
