Ariyalur, Apr 02 (UNI) The Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for Ariyalur district for 2008-09 has been fixed at Rs 381 crore, about 15 per cent higher than that of previous year, District Collector R Sudalaikannan said today.
In a release here, he said thrust has been accorded to agriculture by allocating 81 per cent of the amount.
A sum of Rs 307.96 crore has been earmarked for long-term loans for farmers, land development, purchase of farm equipment and loans for drip irrigation works. Of this amount, Rs 26 crore would be forwarded as loans to Self-Help Groups, he added.
He said Rs 20.38 crore would be extended for starting new units while Rs 52.64 crore would be for loans pertaining to education, business and medical and engineering professionals to start their own ventures.
He said 90 per cent of the loans would be released through nationalised banks and the rest through cooperative banks.
