Vice-President Hamid Ansari turns 71
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Vice-President Hamid Ansari today celebrated his 71st birthday.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with several central ministers called on Mr Ansari at his residence to wish him.
Official sources confirmed that Dr Singh drove to the official residence of the Vice-President at Maulana Azad Road this morning and personally wished him on the occasion.
Mr Ansari, however, observed the occasion with simplicity and remained with the family members at the residence, sources said.
Born on this day in 1937, Dr Ansari became the 12th Vice-President of India on August 11, 2007. Author of several books, Dr Ansari was decorated with the Padma Shri in 1984.
