New York, April 1 : Cheeta, Tarzan's chimpanzee sidekick, has been working in the showbiz for the past 76-years and like most Hollywood legends, he has completed his autobiography called 'Me Cheeta'.

The book is written from the hairy celebrity's point of view and offers alleged insights into the animal's experiences working with his 'Tarzan' co-star, the late Johnny Weissmuller.

The oldest known living chimpanzee enjoys a retirement at the Cheeta Primate Foundation in Palm Springs, California, where he has kept busy painting, pioneering an abstract style called 'Apeism.'

His Ape-stract paintings are sold online to benefit the Cheeta Primate Foundation, reports the New York Daily News.

'Me Cheeta,' an account of his life in the limelight, is to be published later this year and extracts from it appear in next month's Esquire magazine.

Britain's Daily Mail got hold of Cheeta's thoughts on fame and his legacy.

"I can't deny that I'd like my own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but I have been turned down for the last three years. I'm not bitter. I've had a rich career. Every day is a blessing," the text reads.
