Six legislators suspended for hurling books
Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) Six members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly were today suspended for a year following acrimonious scenes in which books were used as missiles and hurled at the presiding officer and even a table was thrown.
A resolution to this effect, moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Patil was adopted by the House amidst protest from Senior BJP Leader Gopinath Munde who described the one year suspension as a murder of democracy. ''This is not Vidhan Sabha but a kaurav sabha,'' he observed.
The suspended members are Sanjay Kute, Raj Purohit (BJP), Arjun Khotkar (Shiv Sena), Wamanrao Chatap (SBP), Bachchu Kadu and Sanjay Chavan (Ind).
