Shajahan case does not attract criminal offences:Police report

Puducherry, Apr 1 (UNI) Maintaining that the case against Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shajahan does not attract any criminal offences, the Puducherry police said it was only a civil case.

This was stated in a report submitted to the Judicial Magistrate-II court on March 29, official sources said here today.

Agate, a private company had moved the court for recovery of Rs 1.90 crore loan it had given to Kuthoos Hassan Maraicker company in which Mr Shajahan was the Managing Director in 1997.

In the petition, Agate alleged that Kuthose Hassan Maraicker company had cheated them.

Based on the petition, Magistrate Annamalai directed the police to register cases against Shajahan and submit a report to the court before March 29 after inquiry, following which the police submitted their report, the soucres added.
