Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) The City police foiled two different attempts of robbery in jewellery shops by arresting nine people here.
Acting on a tip-off that a group of five people would be coming to rob a jewellery shop in Sunmill compound in lower Parel at around 2200 hrs yesterday. Police laid a trap and nabbed the five robbers, police said today.
The robbers have been identified as Sanjay Prafull Raut (24), Sanjay alias, Pradeep Balgovind Singh (19), Sandeep Rajaram Patil (21), Sandesh Lilakant Jadyal (24) and Prafull Hiramani Jajdiye (25).
Police also seized three choppers and one country made revolver from their possession.
In another incident, police received information that four people would be coming to rob a jewellery shop at Kalina at 1730 hrs yesterday. Police laid a trap and nabbed all the four. They were later identified as Rinku, alias Deveshkumar Ramvishal Tiwari (19), Rohit Vijay Bahadur Singh (18), Suresh Mirashi (26) and Anup Surendra Tiwari (20).
One country made revolver, two live cartridges, a chopper and and Rs 70 were seized from their possession.
