Naveen appeals to people to make Orissa a developed state
Bhubaneswar, Apr 1 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appealed to the people to extend their cooperation to realise the dream of making Orissa as a developed state of the country.
Addressing a state-level function organised to celebrate the 73rd state formation day here, the Chief Minister described the series of stepts taken by his government in the field of agriculture, industry, poverty alleviation, health and IT sector.
Mr Patnaik reiterated that his government had given top priority to the development of agriculture and declared the current year as the year of irrigation. He said not a drop of water meant for agriculture would be diverted for any other purpose.
He said a number of MoUs had been signed for the development of industry in the state.Most of them had already started production.
The industry would create employment opportunities and the rehabilitation policy formulated by the state government for the displaced people had been adjudged as one of the best in the country, he said.
Mr Patnaik said tourism and IT sector had a lot of potential for development in the state. Besides helping to improving the economy these sector could create a lot of employment opportunities, he said.
