Srinagar, Apr 1 : Activists of Mass Movement Party took to the streets to protest against the growing custodial killings and alleged human rights violations by security forces.

"We want to tell the international community that there is no information of the youths who are missing for almost 16 years. Today, we came to know of the existence of more than 1,000 unidentified graves, which have no records of whom they belong to. This shows that forces have killed about ten thousand of our youths after they had gone missing," said Bilal Ahmad, a protestor.

The police had to use force to prevent the agitators from heading towards the local United Nations military observer group office.

Security forces have been accused in the past of human rights violations, including rape and extra-judicial killings.

But authorities deny any systematic rights violations and say all reports are investigated and the guilty punished.
