'Hitlershahi' in UP: Amar Singh
Bhopal, Apr 1 (UNI) Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh today described the atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh as 'Hitlershahi (Hitler rule)' where even Congress president Sonia Gandhi or her son Rahul Gandhi could be jailed leave alone peasant leader Mahendra Singh Tikait.
Mr Singh told mediapersons here today that Ms Mayawati had no tolerance for her political opponents and harboured enmity against them.
Regarding increasing proximity between the Congress and the SP, Mr Singh said he had been hurt by BJP leader Arun Jaitley's statement that both parties were getting closer due to the CBI.
He said two secular parties -- the SP and the Congress -- supported an independent candidate in the Rajya Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh but both remain political opponents.
However, he said, the SP has appealed the Congress to leave the electoral battlefield in the Lok Sabha by-election to Betul constituency.
Mr Singh said the SP has led the formation of the United National Progressive Alliance comprising regional parties. The Left were also viewing the UNPA as a third alternative.
