Fraud charges against Amitabh shameful: Amar Singh
Bhopal, Apr 1 (UNI) Reacting to the serving of notice to megastar Amitabh Bachchan for non-payment of proper stamp duties for purchase of land in Barabanki, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh today alleged that revenge was in the nature of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
''Serving of notice to Mr Bachchan over a minor issue shows the nature of the Uttar Pradesh Government and Ms Mayawtai. Is it believable that Mr Bachchan would resort to irregularities in payment of stamp duty for a few rupees?,'' Mr Singh told reporters here.
The SP leader alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had a habit to suppress her political opponents. However, it was unfortunate that Mr Bachchan was not even her political opponent.
''There is a long list of leaders, including peasant leader Mahendra Singh Tikait, who have been the target of political vendetta of Ms Mayawati,'' he noted.
Mr Singh arrived in the state capital along with actress-MPs Jaya Bachchan and Jayprada in connection with the campaigning for party candidate for the Lok Sabha by-election from Betul constituency.
Earlier, Ms Bachchan had alleged that Ms Mayawati had levelled allegations against her husband to gain popularity.
