Delhi Assy adjourned without any business for lack of quorum
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) The Delhi Legislative Assembly was today adjourned for the day without any business for a lack of quorum, which the opposition described as "a matter of shame" and 'unprecedented in the history of the Vidhan Sabha'.
Shortly after it met for the Question Hour, the Vidhan Sabha secretary Siddharth adjourned the House for half an hour due to the lack of quorum as just 13 members were present in the House, against the 24 required for the Quorum.
Even after the House reassembled after the adjournment, there were not enough members in the House to fill the quorum. At that time, just 18 members were present in the House, six short of that required for the quorum. After waiting for ten minutes, the Vidhan Sabha secretary adjourned the House for the day.
Describing the adjournment as unprecedented, BJP MLAs, led by Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagdish Mukhi alleged that it was for the first time in the History of the Delhi vidhan Sabha that the House had to be adjourned just after commencement of proceedings for the day.
