Washington, Apr 1 : American actor Adrien Brody and actress Sarah Polley have been signed on to play the lead roles in sci-fi thriller 'Splice'.
The plot of the film revolves around two scientists who undertake illegal genetic experiments and create a new species fusing human and animal DNA.
As the pair becomes global celebrities, the consequences of their accomplishment begin to become apparent, reports Variety.
The film would be directed by Vincenzo Natali of 'Cube' fame.
The project has been financed by Gaumont and is produced by Steve Hoban of Copperheart Entertainment.
Senator Entertainment has acquired distribution rights in North America, Germany and Spain.
The project is due for theatrical release in 2009.
