Lausanne, Mar 31 (UNI) FIH has read the riot act to the Indian Hockey Federation, ''Get your act right quickly or We withdraw the 2010 World Cup from New Delhi''.
An angry International Hockey Federation (FIH) has made it clear to IHF that it is looking for ''alternative host countries in case the FIH would be forced to take the decision not to host the World Cup in India''.
These strong words came at the three-day Executive Board meeting of the FIH held here from March 27 to 29.
One of the items on the agenda was the project of ''Promoting Indian Hockey'' and the organisation of the World Cup Men in 2010.
An exasperated FIH reconsidered the conditional awarding of the World Cup 2010 to New Delhi after it was told that the actions taken in the preparation of the World Cup 2010 and in the project 'Promoting Indian Hockey' have not been satisfactory.
However, the Executive Board decided to give Indian Hockey some additional time, as provided for in the Memorandum of Understanding (signed in November 2007 between the FIH and the Indian Hockey Confederation), to urgently address those issues before taking a final decision.
In the meantime, FIH is looking for alternative host countries in case the FIH would be forced to take the decision not to host the World Cup in India.
