'Subsidised food grain scheme in Chhatisgarh popular among masses:BJ
New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) The supply of subsidised foodgrains in Chhatisgarh has proved to be a popular scheme among the voters of this predominantly tribal dominant state, BJP leadership feels.
Stating that the scheme evolved by Chief Minister Raman Singh has proved to be very popular among the masses where 35 kgs of rice is provided at Rs three per kg to a familiy and the state had been bearing 867 crores from its own resources without depending on Central assistance.
Now the scheme had caught the imagination of other states like the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh which also wants to replicate the scheme.
Other plus point was the success of single teacher schools spread over the state attracting children of the school going age.
The handling of the home grown naxal problem had been tackled effectively in Chhattisgarh eliminating hardcore elements, sources said.
