Guwahati, Mar 31: Renowned human rights activist Lachit Bardoloi was arrested under the National Security Act(NSA) for having nexus with the ULFA, the Assam Assembly was informed today.
Bardoloi had four cases pending against him and was further slapped one more yesterday.
Mr Bardoloi was a key member of the Peoples Consultative Group (PCG), set up by the ULFA, to act as a go between them and the Centre.
But he was arrested following reports of his direct nexus with the ULFA.
Meanwhile, the Assembly was also informed that a police case had been filed against Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Secretary Bikash Barua by a Non Government Organisation for urging the ULFA to help them while hosting the cricket meet.
He was charged of colluding with the ULFA by the NGO and Mr Barua already had taken anticipatory bail in the case.
