Kumaraswamy condemns TN CM's statement on Hogenakkal issue
Bangalore, Mar 31 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy today condemned the statement of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on the Hogenakkal issue and said it would badly affect inter-state relations.
Talking to reporters here, he said the Centre should immediately intervene and halt Tamil Nadu from taking up the controversial drinking water project across river Cauvery at Hogenakkal on the border.
Mr Kumaraswamy accused the BJP of politicising the issue in view of the Assembly elections due in May.
Mr Karunanidhi had reportedly said his Government would complete the project at any cost, despite widespread opposition from the Karnataka side.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao said he had written a letter to the Centre, asking it to intervene in the matter.
