Jilted lover, cousin held for murder of girl

New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) A jilted lover and his cousin were arrested today for the murder of an aspiring air hostess in a guest house here.

Police said 24-year-old Shashi, who was taking air hostess training, was stabbed by Ashish Nandwana and his cousin Manoj after she refused marriage proposal by Ashish at the Central Guest House in Nizammudin area early Saturday.

Shashi, a resident of Ranchi, Jharkhand, was a student of the Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training in Jaipur, where she stayed with her elder sister.

South district police said Shashi and her two friends-Ashish and Manoj(both residents of Jaipur) had come at the guest house on Saturday.

They were alotted two rooms after Ashish provided his driving license as identity proof.

A few hours later, they came down supporting Shashi who was bleeding. While asked, they said she had slipped in bathroom and had to be rushed to a hospital. Ashish returned to the guest house at around 1400 hrs to check out.

Shashi was admitted to a nearby private hospital. Doctors at the hospital were suspicious after examining deep stab wounds on her stomach and neck. She succumbed to her injuries in the evening.

The hospital authorities informed the police and her three friends were detained for interrogation.

The police found several discrepancies in their accounts and individually interrogated the trio.

Ashish proposed Shashi for marriage, but she spurned him saying that she would marry at her own wish. The refusal enraged Ashish and in a fit of rage he and his cousin Manoj murdered Shashi, police claimed.
