IPL has created ''difficult situation'': Sidebottom

By Staff

London, Mar 31 (UNI) The cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL) has created a ''difficult situation'' for England's top stars, seamer Ryan Sidebottom said.

The Twenty20 competition starts next month with many of the world's best players involved.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chairman Giles Clarke has previously stated he has ''no interest'' in players taking part but Sidebottom admitted there had been some discussion among the squad during their recent tour to New Zealand.

''The guys talk about it in the dressing room but it is nothing to do with us - all the guys are contracted to the ECB,'' he told Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme.

''It is a difficult situation because everyone wants to play in it,'' the 30-year-old seamer said.

Sidebottom was man of the Test series against New Zealand after taking 24 wickets in three matches.

''That can only be a good thing because it gives you the extra incentive to perform,'' Sidebottom said.

You have got to be on the ball all the time, you have to concentrate,'' he added.
