Solidarity committee calls for UN intervention in Tibet
New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) The Tibetan Solidarity Committee today urged the United Nations to immediately despatch an independent fact-finding delegation to Tibet, where it alleged ''suppression of Tibetans by the Chinese forces through covert and overt means is continuing.'' In a statement here, it said ''where there is oppression, there is revolt.'' It demanded that free press be allowed to cover the whole of Tibet, besides allowing the free movement of people and provide access to daily needs.
The Committee said the continuing peaceful demonstrations in all the three provinces of Tibet are ''a direct result of China's represssive measures and wrong policies.'' ''It is high time for the Chinese leadership and officials to realise the ground reality and take immediate remedial measures,'' it said.
