Mulayam rejects alliance with Congress

Kanpur, Mar 30: Rejecting any possibilty of alliance with the Congress, the Samajwadi Party supremo and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav said if Congress wished it can be the part of United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA).

In an informal conversation with newspersons, Mr Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav said ''If Congress wants to do something they may go to Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh as nothing is left for them in UP.'' Mr Yadav arrived here late last evening with Akhilesh Yadav to call on ailing former Kannauj MP Chote Singh Yadav at a local hospital. He said Samajwadi Party had given time till April 30 to the Mayawati-led UP government to withdraw cases against 11,000 students, reinduct dismissed policemen and provide relief to the debt-ridden farmers from loan payments.

He also criticised the Centre and state government for sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities.
