Gandhinagar, Mar 30: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today exuded confidence that the state has the potential to become the financial hub of the world. Addressing Indian-Americans at the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) conference in San Antanio, US, through video conferencing from his home here, Mr Modi pointed out that the year 2010 will be celebrated as the golden jubilee of Gujarat.
Gujarat, he said, is known for its business and finance talent. He told the gathering that the state has the highest number of chartered accountants and investors. With the commissioning of Gujarat International Finance Tech City (GIFT) at Gandhinagar, the state will become the biggest financial hub of the world, Mr Modi told the conference. The Chief Minister also apprised the conference on the ship breaking, ship making, ship building and ship repairing activities in the state which has a 1600-km coastline. The Chief Minister informed that the state has achieved 10.2 per cent growth rate during the last Five Year Plan and expressed hope that the growth rate will touch 11.2 per cent in the next Plan period.
