Top women players for Federal Bank ITF tourney

Kochi, Mar 29 (UNI) Top Indian women players like Isha Lakhani, Rashmi Chakravarthy, Sanna Bambari and Shikha Oberoi are expected to participate in the Federal Bank ITF International Tennis Tournament to be played at Angamaly, Kerala, from April 28 to May 3.

There will be 32 players in the main draw.

The All India Tennis Association allotted the 10,000 dollar prize money tournament to Kerala.

The qualifying rounds of the tournament, to be played at the FISAT Stadium, Angamaly, will be held on April 26-27.

Federal Bank is the title sponsor of the event, which is being financially supported by the All India Tennis Association.

FISAT, Angamaly, is making four new clay courts at a cost of over Rs 2.5 lakh for conducting the event.

The title sponsorship launching ceremony, held here today, was attended by Federal Bank Executive Director K S Harshan, FISAT Chairman P V Mathew, Kerala Tennis Association President Mathew Samuel, Kerala Tennis Association President Emeritus K M Noorudin Mather, A I T A Treasurer Prof T D Francis, Kerala Tennis Association Secretary Dr Joy Anto, Arjuna Awardee George Thomas, Kerala Olympic Association President M M Abdul Rehman and Ernakulam District Sports Council Secretary Mathew Paul.
