Tankha to continue to work for people's welfare
Bhopal, Mar 29 (UNI) After receiving drubbing at the hands of the BJP in the biennial elections to fill up three seats to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, Congress-supported independent candidate Vivek Tankha today said his determination to work for the welfare of people has been strengthened.
Mr Tankha told UNI here today that he contested as an independent candidate but did not get support from those legislators from whom he had expected. Still, he was thankful to everyone.
Observing that this was not new in electoral politics, he said everyone was aware of the factors behind these incidents in a democratic system.
The former state Advocate General said the positive side of a defeat was that it inspired people to move ahead. He had taken his defeat in the same spirit.
On whether he would join the Congress in future, Mr Tankha said nothing could be said at this point of time. It was true that he found himself close to the Congress.
