Menaka Gandhi booked for ''robbery''
Pilibhit, Mar 29 (UNI) Former union minister and animal lover MP Menaka Gandhi and three persons have been booked for ''robbery'' and ''threatening'' at Bisalpur police station here today.
Menaka will be sent behind bars, if found guilty of the crime, Superintendent of Police Sugriv Giri said.
Police said Ms Gandhi along with her accoiates were on their way to Pilibhit, where in Bisalpur she spotted a truck laden with buffaloes.
She stopped the truck thinking that the live stocks were being taken for slaughter.
However, the traders carrying the animal said they had bought them from Lakhimpur and were taking them for sale in Bareilly.
They mentioned of having purchase receipt too.
But, the MP turned a deaf ear to them and allegedly distributed the buffaloes among the villagers.
The traders lodged an FIR against the MP and her associates Manoj Gupta, Anoop Gupta and Naresh.
