Delhi Lt Gov orders magisterial inquiry into Bldg collapse
New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the collapse of an under construction building in East Delhi this morning, which led to death of six labourers and left 16 others injured.
The accident occurred when a four storeyed building, which was under construction in Seelampur area, collapsed at 0730 hours.
''The Lt Governor has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the building collapse incident in the trans Yamuna area this morning,'' a spokesperson of the LG said.
The LG had also appealed to the people of Delhi that they should not indulge in any illegal construction that would endanger their own lives as well as that of others, he added.
About five to six fire service engines were still engaged in operations to rescue those trapped under the debris. Fire officials said the toll was likely to go up as several others were still trapped.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has already suspended Assistant Engineer B D Sharma and Junior Engineer Pradeep Kumar who were overseeing the construction work.
A vigilance inquiry has also been ordered by the corporation to look into the reasons for the building collapse.
