VHP demands alternative course to protect Ram Setu
Port Blair, Mar 28 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today urged the Centre to identify an alternative passage for constructing Setu Samudra Canal Project.
Addressing a press conference here, VHP National Joint Secretary Balkrishna Naik said his organisation was not against economic development, which is likely to take place after the construction of the canal.
'' We want the Setu not to be destroyed, but at the same time the canal could be constructed on any other alignment,'' he said.
Referring to his visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, he said it was aimed at propagating and strengthening the Indian Culture and values among the people.
