Ahmedabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Police has arrested a Sadhu for attempting to rape two Sadvis, near Junagadh in Saurashtra district of Gujarat.
According to Bhadran police, the Sadhvis, went to Junagadh, a famous pilgrim centre, few days back, where they were met by Sadhu Mahakalgiri, who offered to take them to the Somnath to attend a ''bhandara'' (charity feast).
Later, Sadhu Mahakalgiri made a halt at a deserted place on some pretext and then tried to rape both the Sadhvis.
The Sadhvis somehow managed to ward off the rape attempt and escaped. On March 15, they lodged a police complaint at Talala police station, under whose jurisdiction the crime was committed.
Talala police immediately launched a manhunt but the Sadhu remained at large. Subsequently, they received a tip off that Sadhu Mahakalgiri had sought refuge in Kimkhodi village of Bhadran taluka in Central Gujarat. In turn, Talala police alerted Bhadran police, which arrested the Sadhu late last night.
Later, he was handed over to Talala police. Police has registered a case of attempt to rape.
