Police officials to be awarded for nabbing SIMI officials
Bhopal, Mar 28 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government would honour police officials involved in the arrest of 13 activists of the banned SIMI organisation by bestowing awards on them on August 15.
Talking to reporters at the Vidhan Sabha premises here, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed happiness over police success for discharging its responsibilities effectively.
Apart from Inspector General of Police (Indore) Anil Kumar, DIG B Madhukumar and Dhar Superintendent of Police Chanchal Shekhar, the Additional SP and the City SP would be presented a revolver as a part of the award.
Besides, Station House Officers (SHOs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs), Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) would be awarded Rs one lakh each, while head constables and constables would be presented Rs 50,000 each.
Mr Chouhan said the government has made preparations for enacting a law to control organised crime on the lines of Maharashtra and the concerned Bill would be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha during the next session.
Replying to a question, he said the bribery scandal involving a legislator would be probed into. The government does not want to take a step in haste. Further action would be decided on the basis of preliminary investigation.
He denied that cabinet would be expanded soon.
